In our Can Do Places podcast series, “Sixty Seconds of Inspiration“, we ask our community superheroes to give us their top tips for a successful community project.

In this episode we travel to Falkirk to meet Annette Tonner, Chief Executive of Community Focus Scotland CIC (formerly Forth Valley Community Focus CIC).

Annette had worked with various private training organisations over 15 years, and grew increasingly disillusioned with their profit before people mind set and cynical way of doing business; she knew she could provide this sort of training more effectively, cheaper and with a real person centered approach that put the needs of the client first.

Annette’s idea was to create a community initiative that focused on reducing poverty and unemployment, through the provision of tailored employability and training support services designed to improve people’s life chances and choices. With this in mind, the name for Community Focus Scotland was formed.
