Do you use your mobile to do business? Then you should attend this event.
The Scottish Business Resilience Centre is hosting the Trading Securely for Business Conference, which will be held on Wednesday 9 March 2016 at the National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh.
At the conference you will get an insight into the issues surrounding securing devices within your business.
Both within the UK and internationally, we are witnessing a speed of developing new products and brands faster than at any time in history. As the business demand for flexible and swift connectivity develops, so the imperative for speed can often outpace resilience and security. Already it is estimated that an average household in the UK has 7 mobile devices, with the concept of the internet of things meaning that never before have there been so many different items to consider or secure.
Faced with this ever-growing landscape of new devices, options and offers, how does a small to medium sized business know what will work, what will prove the best and most secure service, what will be sustainable 5 years or even a year from now and, crucially, where to go for that trusted advice?
With the small to medium sized market accounting for 98% of the private sector in Scotland, ensuring that the needs of these 342,000 businesses are looked after is a key priority for us all. We already know that for understandable reasons of speed and mobility some smaller companies are trading solely by smartphone and that still some of the most basic security is not being taken up by business. The Trading Securely for Business conference focuses on securing mobile devices.
The day will include several high-calibre speakers, showcase technical innovation and share the plans for what a cyber resilient Scotland will look like in the future.
The keynote speaker is James Lyne who is Global Head of Security Research at Sophos. Also speaking is Richard Hollis who is the Director of the Risk Factory, and he will be presenting important information surrounding personal and brand security.
You will also be hearing from Glenn Wilkinson from SensePost, who will be providing a presentation titled ‘The Machines that Betrayed Their Masters’. He has presented all around the world from Paris to Las Vegas and now he is in Edinburgh with his Airbourne Quadcopter and he will be showing us just how much data can be collected without your knowledge!
The Conference promises to be educational and insightful. It is simple, they want to make sure that your business trades more safely.
